Maersk Air Cargo Is New Member of the International Airline Association BARIG
• Denmark’s first all-cargo airline is part of A.P. Moller–Maersk
• Cologne/Bonn Airport as primary hub in Germany
Frankfurt am Main, July 21, 2026. The international airline association BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany) is further expanding its focus on air freight and welcomes Maersk Air Cargo as a new member. The airline is Denmark’s first all-cargo carrier and part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, one of the world’s largest logistics companies.
“The already significant role of air freight in global trade has grown even further in recent months, and for many industrial companies in Germany, air cargo is a vital component of their supply chains,” explains Michael Hoppe, BARIG Chairman and Executive Director. “Currently, air freight in Germany not only suffers from excessively high location costs, but is also confronted with additional obstacles in form of unnecessarily complex processes and a high degree of bureaucracy. We are committed to improving the framework conditions and are delighted that Maersk Air Cargo is supporting our work as a new BARIG member now.”
With a fleet of 19 freighters, Maersk Air Cargo serves numerous destinations within Europe, as well as in Asia and North America. Its main hub is Billund Airport in southern Denmark; Cologne/Bonn Airport serves as its primary hub in Germany.
