
Risk Areas, Quarantine Measures, and Testing Strategies: Basic Facts and Figures Concerning the Political Discourse
The revised decree by federal and state governments on a testing strategy and quarantine measures for travel returnees using different means of transportation (airplanes, automobiles, trains, etc.), particularly when coming from risk countries, has re-ignited fierce criticism and great concern on the part of the travel industry and other sectors of the economy – especially as the reassessment of the situation and the interpretation of the official data lack clear comprehensibility and, therefore, leave room for questions.
The political discussion is based primarily on data provided by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which are primarily used to classify countries at risk. The following table lists the fifteen most frequently identified countries of infection of all reported Covid-19 cases (weeks 31 to 34).
