SunExpress

  • Since its founding in 1989 as a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, SunExpress has developed its position as a leisure airline within Europe and is now also one of the largest airlines operating between Germany and Turkey.

The airline carries nearly nine million passengers every year. This achievement would not have been possible without close cooperation with our well-known tour operators, travel agencies as well as loyal passengers.

The leisure airline is based in Antalya on the Turkish Riviera, with Izmir on the Aegean coast serving as another important hub. The corporate headquarters of SunExpress Deutschland GmbH – the subsidiary founded in 2011 – is located at Frankfurt International Airport. SunExpress operates from 21 airports in Turkey and more than 15 airports in Germany. Employing more than 4,200 people, SunExpress is a successful and continuously growing airline.

Now operating more than 1,200 flights per week, SunExpress continues to expand its market share and market leadership to more than 80 destinations in Turkey and 20 countries in Europe and North Africa. The Turkish city of Izmir is the airline’s major hub on the Aegean Region and part of its core market – as well as popular holiday destinations like Antalya in southern Turkey, the fascinating mountain landscape of Cappadocia, and several cities on the Black Sea Region and in the east of the country.
