Air Cargo Conference 2024
The 9th Air Cargo Conference, held on September 4 and 5, 2024, at the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) in Frankfurt, brought together leaders from the air cargo industry to explore the future of logistics. Organized by the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt e.V., where BARIG’s Executive Director is part of the Executive Board.
The conference focused on how the industry can adapt to the growth of e-commerce and digitalization, which is overall transforming cargo operations. Insights were shared on the e-parcelization of cross-border freight, illustrating the influence of e-commerce in air logistics processes.
Sustainability was also a central theme, with discussions on the reduction of the environmental impact of air cargo and logistics movements, strategies to lower carbon emissions, challenges of scaling sustainable aviation fuels, and the industry’s dedication to reaching long-term environmental goals.
In the field of technology and automation, IT experts demonstrated how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing logistics. The use of AI to enhance efficiency and reduce time spent on certain tasks was highlighted, setting new standards for future cargo operations.
While looking at global shifts in trade dynamics, the presenters examined trends and risks in foreign trade and their impact on supply chains. These discussions offered valuable perspectives on navigating the evolving trade .
