Marabu Airlines on Board: BARIG Welcomes Another Airline from the Tourism Segment to the Community
• Young, dynamic airline with currently around 30 vacation destinations
Frankfurt am Main, March 26, 2025. The airline association BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany) grows further and welcomes Marabu Airlines as new member in the tourism airline segment. Marabu Airlines, which was founded in 2022 as a start-up airline, has now become a well-represented player on the German market with a wide range of flights.
“With Marabu Airlines, a young, dynamic airline adds up to the BARIG community’s tourism segment,” says Michael Hoppe, BARIG Chairman and Executive Director. “The trends in the German tourism market, which were recently discussed at ITB and our BARIG Networking & Conference Day, predict a positive development for 2025. We are delighted to follow this market development together with Marabu Airlines as another European member.”
“Within a remarkably short time span, Marabu Airlines has established itself as a reliable player in the German vacation flight market,” emphasizes Axel Schefe, CEO of Marabu Airlines. “At the same time, we see the urgent need for the industry to tackle important issues now in order to be able to operate successfully in the long term. BARIG does an outstanding job with its various working groups as well as with politicians, the economy, airports, and many other players. Therefore, we are delighted to be part of the BARIG community now.”
Marabu Airlines is headquartered in Estonia, but has several bases in Germany, including Hamburg, Leipzig, and Nuremberg. Since its first flight in April 2023, Marabu Airlines has already transported more than two million passengers. With a fleet of eight Airbus 320neo aircraft and two wet-lease aircraft, the airline currently serves around 30 vacation destinations, mainly in the Mediterranean region.
